Jev vs procurement workflows
Procurement workflows create POs, match receipts, and pay vendors. Jev can read an exception comment (“vendor shipped substitute SKU”) and pick an exception class.
Independent. Three-way match is arithmetic + ERP. docs.typesafe.ai.
Comparison scope
Vendor master, catalogs, and tax stay in P2P. Language about substitutions, rush reasons, or policy exceptions is Jev-shaped.
Criteria that decide the architecture
| Axis | Jev (System One) | Procurement workflows |
|---|---|---|
| Three-way match | Code / ERP | Wins |
| Exception taxonomy | Choice | Buyer comments |
| Preferred vendor lists | Rules | P2P |
| Negotiation emails | Optional Noul “needs legal” | Humans |
Decision quality and control
Do not let Jev invent a unit price. Jaggedness: numbers in code. A Score is a rubric, not a quote.
Integration trade-offs
Exception queue: comment + SKU text → Jev → reason code. PO change APIs remain ERP.
TypeSafe’s public models page lists jev-1.13 at $0.042 per million input tokens with output tokens free — a vendor claim, not a jev.pro measurement. Confirm on the models page before you bid.
When each approach fits
Prefer Jev when
- Exception comments are free text and high volume
Prefer Procurement workflows when
- The mismatch is qty/price on structured lines
ERP matches; Jev classifies leftover stories; buyers decide.
Three-way match stays boring
Qty and price mismatches are arithmetic. Jev adds value on the story of a substitution or rush. If you skip the ERP match and ask Jev “is this invoice OK?”, you have built a vibe AP department.
Exception story after the match
P2P systems create POs, match receipts, and pay vendors. Jev reads an exception comment, not the three-way match. Sketch: exception queue holds comment + SKU text after ERP already flagged qty/price → Choice reason code (substitute_sku / rush / freight_dispute / other) on pinned jev-1.13.0 → buyer decides. PO change APIs remain ERP. Preferred-vendor lists stay rules.
Exception-comment calls sit on TypeSafe’s vendor-claimed $0.042 / M input list price (output free). Do not let Jev invent a unit price. Jaggedness: numbers in code. A Score is a rubric, not a quote. Negotiation emails may get a Noul “needs legal”; Jev does not generate the vendor reply.
How a vibe AP department gets built
- Skip the match, ask “is this invoice OK?” Arithmetic first. Language second. Otherwise you are scoring vibes.
- Score as a bid or unit price. Official numeric warning: do not reconstruct magnitudes from Score levels.
- Vendor pick as a closed award. A suggestion over a list you already vetted is still a buyer action. RFPs: score rubric dimensions; humans award.
- Catalog and tax in
stateas if Jev were the master. Vendor master stays in P2P. - Schema-safe reason code as “pay it.” Valid output is not a three-way match and not a payment authorization.
When not to use Jev here
Do not use Jev when the mismatch is qty/price on structured lines, when you need a catalog search, or when the next action is a PO change API. Prefer ERP/P2P. Use Jev when exception comments are free text and high volume.
If the buyer’s next click is “change qty on line 4,” that is an ERP form. If the next click is “classify this substitution story,” that is the snap. Keep those buttons on different systems.
What this page does not claim
-
Not a Coupa/SAP review.
-
Schema-safe output is not the same as factual correctness.
-
No independent bake-off numbers live here.
