Jev for startups

Startups should treat Jev as a narrow production habit: pin a model, freeze five questions, log traces, abstain. Not as a branding layer called “our AI brain.”

Unofficial startup notes — not fundraising advice, not a key desk. Access is waitlist/console; we do not issue keys. docs.typesafe.ai. Replicas are not Jev and not endorsed.

First 30 days

  1. One door (channels).
  2. One questions module in git.
  3. Dual-stack smoke if you ship Py and TS.
  4. Gold JSONL with 50 ugly real tickets.
  5. Fail closed on 401/422/timeout.

What to skip

Multi-door abstractions, custom fine-tunes (not offered), and generating user-visible copy with Jev.

Risks if you skip the boring parts

A startup that pastes Playground output into production without a pin will retune floors after every alias move. A startup that asks Jev to write onboarding email will hit jaggedness (generation) and still need an ESP. Keep the first production loop boring: one door, one questions file, one gold set, one fail-closed default.

Vendor list price is cheap per call at $0.042 / M input — until you send the whole CRM row. Filter. Official: unused state still bills and hurts jev-1.13 accuracy.

If you only have OpenRouter or Vercel credentials this week, use that door’s model id. Do not copy first-party noul examples into a boolean schema.

Two pins the 30-day list forgets

Add these to the first-month loop, not instead of it:

Confirm list price on the models page (they have described output as free). Treating SemIf as “Jev we can run on a laptop” is out of scope — not Jev and not endorsed.

Then graduate with implementation checklist. Enterprises later: for enterprises. Hello-world access: getting started.

When not to use this page’s advice

Do not build an “AI platform” narrative for a seed deck on the back of one Noul. Do not skip gold because you are three people. Do not buy keys from a guide site. Schema-safe ≠ your first customer’s ticket is correct. Do not use Jev as persistence, math, or the ESP.

FAQ

Is Jev cheaper than GPT for everything? Only if you stop generating on decide-only traffic. Measure. Vendor list price is $0.042/M input.

OpenRouter for speed to hello-world? A documented door — different model id and errors (402). Don’t mix schemas.

Can we fine-tune Jev on our tickets? Public docs we used say no customer LoRA. Do not plan a seed milestone on it.

Is OpenJev fine for the MVP? It is not Jev. If you use it, label it. Floors will not transfer.
