Jev common mistakes
These are mistakes we see in integration reviews, not personality flaws and not a scrape of a rival FAQ hub. Each row is something your tests can catch. Independent. docs.typesafe.ai.
Independent angle (cover, do not clone)
Win delta: symptom → likely cause → fix, tied to official jaggedness and door-id mismatches. We do not clone a “can Jev generate text?” FAQ IA.
Question and context
Jev (TypeSafe System One) answers typed questions. Most production pain is application policy: you sent the wrong state, consumed the wrong field, or promoted jev-latest. HTTP 200 is not “the decision was good.”
Core concepts (the frequent ten)
| Mistake | Why it hurts | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Shipping jev-latest after fitting floors |
Aliases move; review rate jumps | Pin jev-1.13.0; log response.model |
| Pasting the warehouse row | jev-1.13 accuracy drops with distractors; tokens still bill (vendor price) |
Input contract; bind backtick paths |
noul == 0.5 as “medium” |
It means yes/no equally likely | Band around 0.5 → review |
| Using Noul τ as Choice confidence | Different axes (official confidence / jaggedness notes) | Separate floors |
| Asking for a paragraph answer | Wrong job — Jev is not your generator | Decide, then draft in an LLM |
| Date / money compare in the question | Documented weakness | Extract in code, pass bands |
| One Choice with 80 sibling labels | Soft argmax, unmaintainable criteria | Cascade + abort, or split calls |
| Ignoring 429/529 | Suites become load tests; users see random holds | Bound retries; fail closed |
| Gold on argmax only | You ship confident wrong actions | Score act / review / abstain |
| Treating jev.pro as official | Affiliation error | Outbound https://docs.typesafe.ai only |
Practical approach
Put the table into CI as comments on the questions file. Pair with testing guide: contract tests catch door ids; policy unit tests catch 0.5-as-medium.
When a reviewer says “Jev got worse,” check in order: criteria SHA, pin, state filter, then the model. Most “regressions” are one of the first three.
Risks and trade-offs
This list is not exhaustive and not a TypeSafe support matrix. Marketplace doors add 402 / customer-verification callouts — handle those as documented errors, not as “the model is bad.”

FAQ
Is “asking Jev to write the email” a mistake or an anti-pattern? Both. Here it is the common integration mistake; anti-patterns names the architecture.
Do official docs list these? Pieces live on jaggedness, models, and how-to-build. We assemble an operator list. They remain the source of facts.
Can I copy TypeSafe’s 0.5 / 0.9 sketches? As illustrations only. Fit on offline evaluation.
